Socialville-Fosters Road Improvement Project
This closure won't happen for another couple of weeks, but it is likely to cause a disruption to travel on I-71 in the overnight hours, so we wanted to give you as much notice as possible in case you have plans that will take you through this area later this month . . .
As part of the Socialville-Fosters Road Improvements project, Ohio Department of Transportation - Cincinnati District 8 will put in place full rolling closures on I-71 at Socialville-Fosters Road (approximately between mile markers 22 and 23 on I-71). The 15-minute road closures will happen nightly, beginning at 11:00 p.m. and continue intermittently until 5:00 a.m. The nighttime closures will start Sunday, August 21, at 11:00 p.m., and continue through Saturday, August 27, at 5:00 a.m.
Law enforcement will stop traffic approximately 500 feet north and south of Socialville-Fosters Road to allow project crews to hang steel for the bridge.
If possible, ODOT recommends avoiding travel on this portion of I-71 during the overnight hours between Sunday, August 21, and Saturday, August 27.
Also, beginning on Sunday, August 21, and continuing through Friday, September 9, there will be various lane closures in place throughout the day to accommodate ongoing construction of the bridge. During these times, traffic will be maintained, but there will be an adjustment to traffic patterns on I-71 moving through the project area. Drivers are cautioned to reduce their speeds and pay attention to signage and roadway markers indicating a shift in traffic patterns.
To accommodate the vacationing and traveling public over Labor Day weekend, all lanes through the project area will be opened. From Friday, September 2, at 12:00 p.m. until Tuesday, September 6, at 7:00 p.m., there will be no lane closures in place in the project area.
