Are you ready to share your vision?

Residents from across Deerfield Township will gather from 5:30p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 25 to share their ideas for the 30 acres of the former Kingswood property set aside for public space. The public meeting will be held at Deerfield Township Station 57, located at 3435 US 22, Loveland OH 45140.

The evening will begin with a short presentation by Township Trustee President Chris Romano about the project itself – now called Downtown Deerfield. Then residents will circulate among “stations” featuring various aspects of the project that impact how the public spaces will be used. These stations – manned by representatives from the Downtown Deerfield development team, who will be available to answer questions and discuss issues – include commercial development, residential development, street character, programming, infrastructure and benefits to and impact on the Township. Residents are encouraged to engage the representatives and share their ideas and insights, which will be gathered into a report to be issued later this year.

A Downtown for Deerfield.

Deerfield Township does not have a downtown – that one place that serves as the heart of our community. The need for a downtown and its importance to Deerfield’s long-term competitiveness has been brought up repeatedly during the Township’s strategic planning process. This project gives us the opportunity to create one.

More and better quality of life amenities.

Downtown Deerfield offers an unparalleled opportunity for amenities the Township currently lacks. These may include trails and paths, dedicated space for fitness activities, a farmer’s market, cross-country course, performing arts venue or play-scape area. What amenities are most important to you? How would the footprint accommodate them?

Balanced demographics requires balanced development.

From amenities to housing stock, Deerfield Township is well positioned to cater to the 35-55-year-old demographic. But our long-term viability requires we also be attractive to the 22-35-year-old and 55-70-year old demographics. Downtown Deerfield allows us to do just that.

Financial security for Deerfield Township.

Downtown Deerfield will allow Deerfield Township to be debt-free by 2020 and provide additional funding for schools, police, fire, roads and infrastructure. But the promise extends beyond the footprint into additional development opportunities. What are your ideas about how to extend the opportunities into the rest of the Township?
